"In Canada, female-owned businesses receive only four percent of VC dollars. They also tend to secure fewer rounds of financing and lower overall funding compared to ventures led by men. BIPOC females in particular face these challenges due to unconscious or conscious biases."
ABOUT
Together, let's amplify our voices and make a difference.
WAKE: Women of Action, Knowledge, and Experience
WAKE stands for Women of Action, Knowledge, and Experience. We believe in harnessing our collective expertise and drive to create positive change in our communities and industries.
WAKE Collective is a dynamic group of BIPOC women founders based in the Vancouver area and the West Coast of Canada.
We are passionate entrepreneurs, each driving impact through our diverse businesses, ranging from healthcare and education to travel. Our collective includes both tech and tech-enabled ventures, all making waves in our respective fields.
Our Mission
At WAKE Collective, our mission is to elevate BIPOC women who are underrepresented in the tech and creative industries. We’re focused on increasing visibility, business potential, and community support—while giving back to our economy.
Our Work
Our immediate goal is to organize events to host our first major event at the Web Summit in Vancouver in May 2025 and other large tech events, showcasing our voices on a global stage. As WAKE Collective grows, we’ll continue organizing events and expanding our impact.
Join us in building a future where BIPOC women are empowered to lead, succeed, and give back.
